BGCC reached out to OCFO when its finance director departed in May 2022 and it needed some interim assistance. The initial engagement was to prepare monthly financial statements, process payroll and process accounts payable. This role quickly grew, and OCFO was soon assisting with grant financial reporting, budgeting and various other accounting/finance duties as needed. Today, OCFO handles/oversees all accounting duties for BGCC.
BGCC internal CFO, Sarah, says, “Stepping into a new CFO position, I highly expected a nonprofit with an interim CFO to have difficulty onboarding me and relaying the pulse of the organization. However, not only has Optimized provided professional and dedicated on-going support to the Boys & Girls Club of Columbia, but they were also able to on-board me as the new CFO to extent and depth of knowledge needed for this complex organization. They are flexible, experienced, and heart-centered. We highly recommend their awesome team. Specific shout out to Pete, thank you Pete for your professionalism, encouragement, patience, knowledge, and genuine care and support not only to our directors, but to our entire staff.” Currently, OCFO meets with the directors of BGCC weekly at the clubhouse to touch base and sign checks. Once a month, OCFO and the directors review the monthly financials and discuss any pressing items–required grant spending, upcoming events, etc. Tracking actual vs budgeted revenues and expenditures is crucial for nonprofit organizations and BGCC is no exception. Ensuring that grants are tracked properly and fit into the budget is a very important process that OCFO handles.
OCFO is excited to continue to assist BGCC with its accounting needs and support them as they enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
